FAQ

  • When will my child be accepted?
As soon as there is an opening at your preferred location, our administration will contact you. We will send you a contract with the request to sign and return it to us within seven days. After we receive it you will be invited to our day care at least a month before placement, for an interview and meeting with the pedagogical team. For information on planning and acceptance, please call us at 020-6618710 or email us at planning.plaatsing@hestiakinderopvang.nl.

What is the notice period of a contract?
If you want to end a contract or wish to decrease the number of child care days, there is a notice period of one month. A contract can be terminated on every day of the month. The termination date is the date that the email was sent or your letter is received at Hestia, unless a later date is mentioned. Please send us a termination or change request in writing. This is also possible via email: planning.plaatsing@hestiakinderopvang.nl. Additional information is available in the General Terms and Conditions of the Branche organisation.

Can I occasionally exchange a day or request extra child care days?
You can build up credit (under certain conditions) by marking your child as absent in the Parent Portal. This credit can then be used when applying for an extra day via the Parent Portal. If you no longer have credit or have not yet accumulated any, you can still request an extra day via the Parent Portal. Costs will then be charged for this day. After you have submitted the application, a Hestia employee will assess whether this extra day is possible. You will receive a message about this via the Parent Portal. We would like to expressly point out that an extra day of care or any credit is not a right, but an extra service that we (try to) provide. Credit that remains at the end of the calendar year or the contract will  therefore not be refunded.

Additional information about the extra days and credit can be found in Ch.8 of the house rules of the location that your child visits.

Is Hestia open all year long?
Our locations are closed on national holidays and two annual study days. You can find the closing days for 2022 this document

What will happen at the introduction to the children’s day care?
Parents/caregivers will have to consider a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 weeks for the introduction period. The length of time depends on the age and character of your child. Part-time children will have an adjusted introduction schedule. Per child, a maximum of two parents or supervisors are allowed to be present, to allow for calmness within the group. The parent/caregiver has to be available in the first week and easily reachable after that. Babies keep to their own rhythm and during the introduction period will receive their bottles at their regular times. The same goes for sleeping.

How does the introduction to BSO go?
The introduction to BSO will be determined by the parents, child and caretakers. Depending on the wishes of the parent(s), a short or longer time period will be decided on.

How does Hestia ensure safety for my child?
Hestia pays close attention to the safety of all children submitted for day and after school care. We work with a safety management method (KDV and BSO) based on method of the ‘Stichting Consument en Veiligheid’ (Foundation for Consumer and Safety). A safety plan has been drawn up which can be consulted digitally at the location.

How does Hestia take care of my child’s health??
Your child’s health is guaranteed with the help of the Health management method (KDV and BSO) based on the guidelines of the ‘Landelijk Centrum Hygiene en Veiligheid’ (National Center for Hygiene and Safety). The Safety and Health Plan can be consulted digitally at all at all children’s day care centers. This plan includes a Risk Inventory and Risk Evaluation and a Plan of Action. All employees have knowledge of the risks identified and the action plan that follows.

Does Hestia have the right permits?
All locations of Hestia Kinderopvang have the required permits. They are submitted though the ‘Landelijk Register Kinderopvang‘ (national register for child care).

    Which language will be spoken?
The language employed at our daycare is Dutch. We also sing songs with the children in a variety of languages. Depending on the team and its members, we sing songs in the language of their specific backgrounds. This includes for instance French, German, English, Surinam, Moroccan and Turkish.
At our locations Amstelveen and Rivierenbuurt we offer all daily activities in two languages: Dutch and English. The Dutch teacher will speak Dutch only and the English teacher will speak English only with the children.
