Register at Hestia Childcare
You can register your child(ren) via the registration form, after which you will receive a confirmation from us. If there is a suitable place, we will offer it to you. Your child(ren) may first be placed on the waiting list. As soon as there is a place at your desired location, our administration will contact you. In the meantime, we will keep you informed by e-mail about the possibility of day care or after-school care at Hestia Childcare.
At least one month before your child(ren) start at the day care or after-school care, you will be invited for an intake interview and introduction to the pedagogical staff and the location.
For information about planning and placement, you can contact us via 020-6618710 and planning@hestiakinderopvang.nl.
Rates
Each location has its own rates for day care or after-school care. The Planning and Placement staff can tell you more about this by phone or email. They also have all the information about the locations, the various childcare options, available days and any waiting times for popular days.
All rates include baby food, bread or hot meals, snacks (fruit, rice cakes, crackers, tea, water), a strong pedagogical concept including activities and great childcare from our pedagogical professionals.
Childcare allowance
You are eligible for childcare allowance when you purchase childcare from us. The amount of the allowance depends on your income, family composition, etc. The invoice you receive from us states the gross amount per month. You can make a trial calculation on the Tax Authorities’ website to see what you are entitled to. Don’t forget to apply for childcare allowance within three months!
To apply for childcare allowance, you need the registration number of a location. All Hestia Kinderopvang locations are registered in the National Register of Childcare. You can also find the LRK numbers on your invoice.

Legislation and safety
Professional-child ratio
We meet the legal requirements for the number of professionals per child. These are:
- One professional for 3 babies up to 1 year old;
- One professional for 5 toddlers from 1 to 2 years old;
- One professional for 8 toddlers from 2 to 4 years old;
- One professional for 10 children from 4 to 7 years old;
- One professional for 11 children from 4 to 13 years old;
- One professional for 12 children from 7 to 13 years old.
Safety
Safety is central to Hestia. You must be able to trust that your child is staying in a safe environment, both emotionally and physically. This means that employees guide your child in a positive way, that the accommodations and play equipment are safe and that there is supervision.
Our employees are selected with great care. Obtaining references, requesting a VOG (certificate of conduct) and participating in a group day are part of the appointment procedure. Hestia also involves parents in this procedure. After appointment, employees keep each other sharp by giving feedback on each other’s performance and jointly taking responsibility for compliance with protocols and work instructions.
A lot of attention is also paid to safety in and around the accommodations. A number of important aspects:
- The accommodations are open and clear, parents are always welcome;
- A Safety Risk Inventory is carried out annually at all locations to prevent the risk of injury due to unsafe situations. This does not involve eliminating all safety risks. What is important is a good mix between offering safety and offering challenges and learning moments; trial and error;
- A Health Risk Inventory is carried out annually at all locations to reduce health risks; In addition, there are also inspection services – such as the GGD, fire department and labour inspectorate – that monitor and assess whether legal requirements have been met.
Childcare Inspection
The GGD inspects all daycare centres, after-school care centres and playgroups in Amsterdam annually. The Childcare Act is then examined: safety, hygiene, personnel and pedagogy. If a childcare centre does not comply, the accommodation is given a certain period of time to comply with the requirement, depending on the problem. The inspection reports on Hestia locations can be found on the website of the National Childcare Register. The most recent reports can be found at the locations.
